The mission of Kitten Rescue of Mason County is to find safe, devoted indoor-only homes for unwanted and abandoned cats and kittens. Each year, they test, vaccinate and have hundreds of kittens altered by a vet. 

According to IRS guidelines, they are recognized as a non-profit organization, and your donations are tax-deductible. In 1999, Kitten Rescue was established. 

Mason County didn’t offer any options for abandoned cats and kittens then. They continue to be the only cat and kitten shelter in Mason County.

The Cat’s Meow Spay, Neuter and Adoption Project

The Cat’s Meow promotes adoption, education, and high-volume, low-cost spay/neuter procedures for SW Washington cats. They put effort into ending the practice of euthanasia for population control. 

They think every cat, domesticated, feral, or somewhere in between, deserves kindness and proper care. To that end, they never put a kitten or cat to sleep unless they are in genuine pain and in danger of dying. 

They do not do so because of size, color, gender, age, treatable illness or injury, FeLV/FIV status, or temperament. They do not spay females who are pregnant, either. 

As a substitute, they either place them in foster care or advise their owners or caregivers on how to care for them and their babies until the whole “kit & kaboodle” can be fixed. After that, the mother returns home, and the children are adopted into forever homes.

Prison Pet Partnership

Prison Pet Partnership is housed in the Washington Corrections Center for Women. It has served as a national model for the rehabilitation of prisoners.

PPP programming allows inmates to experience the benefits of the human-animal bond on their mental health. Additionally, they are learning vocational skills to receive re-entry assistance and professional certifications in animal care.

The 1984-founded Vashon Island Pet Protectors organization works tirelessly to enhance the standard of living for pets on the island. Vashon Island Pet Protectors, also known as “VIPP,” is a non-profit 501c3 animal rescue group.

Casa Dog

Founded on April 19, 2019, Casa Dog is a non-profit, no-kill, volunteer dog rescue organization that serves South King & Pierce County. Casa Dog is a wholly foster-based organization headquartered in Puyallup, Washington. 

From Portland to Mill Creek, they have foster children. They rescue dogs locally, in California, and from Mexico. Unfortunately, there are always dogs that need to be saved.

They aim to place dogs who have never had a chance in loving homes. All of the money raised by Casa Dog is used to support four to five spay and neuter clinics annually. 

For every dog adopted, they hope to spay or neuter 1-2 dogs. The money for this will come from adoption fees and kind donations.
