Binx’s Home for Black Cats

Black cats are the most frequently put to death in US shelters. Therefore they require extra care from groups like ours that specialize in finding them their forever homes. They are a North Carolina non-profit and federal 501(c)(3) black cat rescue situated in Asheville, NC.

Since they don’t have a physical location, they run their rescue as a foster-based organization. Every cat and kitten coming into their rescue is given the best possible chance to grow in a household setting with one of their seasoned foster parents, so to speak.

This is advantageous since it lessens the strain of being housed in a cage, allowing them to get to know each cat’s personality and hasten their adoption.

Lynn for the Animals

Lynn for the Animals is dedicated to keeping pets secure, content, and healthy. They are a foster-based 501C3 rescue.

Although they are a little rescue, they are powerful. The majority of their foster homes are located in North Carolina. However, they also have homes in SC, TN, and KY.

They mostly rescue Cocker Spaniels but take smaller dogs from high-kill shelters. Their organization is entirely handled by volunteers.

None of their efforts would be possible without their excellent foster parents. Over the past four years, more than 500 infants have been rescued from a kill shelter and thoroughly examined for health concerns.

They are moved from shelters to foster homes to get the veterinary treatment and then adopted into their “forever families.”

Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue

Early in 2009, a non-profit 501(c)3 group called Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue was created. It was established to save animals from the Transylvania County Animal Shelter, a high-kill facility at the time.

According to reports, 71% of animals taken to the Transylvania County animal shelter in 2008 were put to death. By the end of 2009, 80% of the animals had been saved, mostly because of Charlie’s Angels Animal Rescue’s efforts.

The group kept expanding, and in 2012 Charlie’s Angels founded Safe Haven, a no-kill shelter in neighboring Fletcher, North Carolina. They also extended their service area to assist in rescuing homeless, abandoned, and frequently neglected animals from shelters in Henderson, Tennessee.

Their core group has been committed to rescuing animals for nearly ten years, serving the communities of western North Carolina and upland South Carolina. Over 10,000 dogs have been saved during this period. Many were senior citizens, heartworm-positive, or required pricey medical care.

Once they have recovered, they are taken up north to their permanent residences. They are distinctive since they only work with foster children.

Humane Society of Buncombe County DBA Friends2Ferals

Friends2Ferals are friends to feral cats, often known as community cats, as their name implies. In 2007, Nancy Schneiter saw the need to assist stray cats in urban areas.

She applied a TNR strategy. As a result, they have drastically decreased the number of feral colonies and, as a result, the intake at neighborhood shelters. Reducing shelter admissions contributes to and sustains a no-kill environment.

They provide this service without charge. Although not essential, donations are much appreciated. The EIN for their 501(3)(c) organization is 58-1413062.

The Humane Society of Buncombe County is their full name (dba Friends2Ferals). They received Guidestar’s Silver Seal of Transparency for 2021.
