Serendipity Pet Rescue
To rescue more cats in the Shreveport-Bossier region, a group of women created Serendipity Pet Rescue in January 2019. Depending on the situation, they periodically accept owner surrenders and rescue cats from regional animal control facilities.
They offer veterinary care and caring foster homes until they can be adopted into their forever homes. They also use TNR (trap neuter return) for the neighborhood to further minimize cat overpopulation.
To sterilize and vaccinate cats, TNR involves capturing them in humane traps and taking them to a veterinarian’s office or spay/neuter clinic (for rabies). The cats have ear tips so that people will know they are a part of a dependable feral colony.

Bill Strunk and Timothy Mills formed Yogie and Friends in March 1999, and the company was officially incorporated in May 2000. They are a 501(c)3 non-profit organization.

Their plan and objective have not changed, but their mission has. They have been limited-scale trap-spay-neuter-release (TNR) of feral cats ever since.

In 2010, a 6-year-old child recognized the need to assist domestic rabbits in their neighborhood and founded their organization. This kind and generous young lady created Holley’s Hopping Habitat.
Holley’s Hopping Habitat aims to educate the public about being a responsible pet owner while providing shelter and care for domestic rabbits. They accept abandoned rabbits from owners. They also give law enforcement-removed bunnies a safe place. They have rabbits spayed and neutered under the direction of a professional veterinarian and help these magnificent animals find good devoted homes.

Humane Society of Harrison County
The HSHC was established in 1967 as a federally tax-exempt non-profit organization with the goals of preventing cruelty to animals, alleviating animal suffering, preventing pet overpopulation, assisting in the investigation of animal abuse, and educating the general public about the humane treatment and care of animals.
The Society is located in “The Pet Place,” a brand-new facility housing homeless and abandoned cats and dogs at 1901 Jefferson Ave. in Marshall, Texas. Society’s main objective is to find homes for these animals.
For families struggling financially, private and governmental funding is sought to pay for pet spaying and neutering. Key components of a comprehensive education plan for proper pet care include seminars and school visits to the general public, along with newspaper and radio advertising.
The only paid staff member of the Society is a part-time facility director. Thanks to volunteers, the Society is a viable and significant contributor to animal care in East Texas.
