Humane Society of Logan County

The Humane Society of Logan County is an animal shelter in Logan County, Illinois. The HSLC was chartered as a non-profit (501c3) organization in April 2006 and began operating as a foster-based shelter. 

They had their groundbreaking in May 2011, thanks to a generous gift of 2.5 acres of land and community support. Their physical shelter opened in September 2011 and continues to make strides in animal welfare every day.

Yoga4Cats

It is a program to help reduce the number of displaced cats in the Decatur and Macon Counties and provide community education and resources. 

Cats are captured, spayed/neutered, vaccinated, and evaluated for adoption. Feral cats have their ears tipped to indicate that they have been altered and returned to their territory, where they cannot reproduce.

Yoga4Cats does not have a facility and relies on dedicated fosters to provide excellent care for adoptable pets. Kittens and social cats captured through WeTNR are placed in foster care and given the socialization, they require before being adopted.

Funds are routinely given to animal shelters to upgrade the kennels and grounds for dogs. Still, cat quarters frequently need to be upgraded as well. Before designing, manufacturing, and installing furniture to enhance the living conditions of shelter cats, Yoga4Cats raises money to buy supplies.

All their events, including yoga classes with adoptable cats, are planned, coordinated, and carried out by Yoga4Cats. The money raised supports Yoga4Cats programs and frequently helps other charitable groups that support animals.

Leia’s Hope Canine Rescue

Leia’s Hope Canine Rescue was founded to provide such a rescue for other dogs. Their attention is on older dogs kept in animal shelters and puppies from puppy mills (also known as commercial breeding dogs). 

For most mill dogs, rescue is their only option for escape, and the auction is their best and possibly only opportunity for freedom. Only 7–8,000 of the almost 1 million adult breeding dogs kept in puppy mills are sold at auction. 

Few (very few) surrender to rescue efforts, while most are destroyed or abandoned out in the wilderness. Leia’s Hope is a charity managed by volunteers. 

All their dogs live in foster homes where they get all the affection and medical attention they require.

On June 21, 1923, the Humane Society of Decatur and Macon County was established. They are a 501(c)(3) organization that is not for profit. Donations to them are, therefore, tax deductible. They don’t kill animals here. 

Their main objectives are to reduce pet overpopulation and find permanent, loving homes for any sick, injured, mistreated, neglected, or abandoned animals that come into their facilities.

They are a separate organization, even though They support the Macon County Animal Control and Care Facility and collaborate with them for the sake of the animals in their neighborhood. 

They depend on donations to aid the animals in their care and maintain their TNR and Spay/Neuter Programs.

Paws Care receives no funding from federal, state, or local governments. All of their funding comes from donations and fundraisers. Their mission is to save, rehome, and give companion animals in Montgomery County and the surrounding areas better lives. 

They are a non-profit organization made up entirely of volunteers. Since they don’t have a shelter and exclusively use private foster homes, they are more of a “boutique rescue.”
