Richmond Animal Care & Control

Everyone can benefit from helping at RACC, whether they want to pet cats or walk dogs.

Their pets stay content, sociable, healthy, and active because of the time volunteers give and the enrichment they provide.

Volunteering significantly lowers the stress and depression that animals in cages may suffer. By opening their hearts (and their time) to the animals in RACC’s care, many volunteers claim to experience comparable advantages.

Orientation and training tailored to each volunteer’s interests are provided.

Attending one of their planned volunteer orientations is the first step to signing up to serve. In addition to learning about various options and requirements, you will be given a shelter tour.

Each of their volunteers must complete a volunteer orientation and training program.

Lost Dog Foundation

The mission of the non-profit Lost Dog Foundation is to locate these animals’ loving, permanent homes and to improve their lives while they are homeless and abandoned.

Donations to LDF are occasionally used for yearly large-scale sterilization clinics in Mexico and for direct animal care and food, medication, and vet costs. They are also used for spay and neuter surgery.

They have a large adoption program and rescue many kittens born wild in the Richmond region. LDF constantly needs assistance paying the fees of its foster program.

Since the animals rely on them, they take their dedication to grassroots funding seriously.

Friends United with the Richmond Shelter

FURS was established in 2001 as an all-volunteer dog adoption and rescue organization.

The neighborhood grassroots organization is dedicated to the careful, long-term adoption of the dogs they save from kill shelters and other dangerous circumstances.

They take in many dogs requiring medical care or unique requirements. They also rescue dogs of all ages and kinds.

One of the most fulfilling ways to support the organization is by taking on the challenging but gratifying task of fostering an animal in need.

As a shelter, volunteers must complete an adoption application that includes a home visit.

They always need trustworthy volunteers to assist with fostering, fundraising activities, and adoption fairs! Join them today as a volunteer!

St. Francis Humane Association

To house adoptable cats and kittens, SFHA does not maintain a shelter; instead, they only rely on foster homes.

The lives of cats and kittens who would have otherwise been put to death are saved through fostering, which is a very satisfying and meaningful experience.

Foster parents offer a home, unconditional love, and transportation to and from adoption fairs and veterinary appointments. At the same time, SFHA covers all medical expenses and supplies.

Numerous volunteer options are available via SFHA, such as taking care of adoptable cats and kittens.

At the same time, they are housed at one of their three Petco shops, operating adoption booths, helping with fundraising, and performing administrative duties.
