Main Plot: Jack Ryan is back, this time with the bad guys in his government. Ryan was appointed as the CIA’s intervening deputy intelligence director. This was when Admiral James Greer became ill with cancer. Before he could assume his new position, one of the president’s closest friends and his family were murdered by a drug cartel. Ryan was tasked to look for the cartel. He was unaware that the CIA had dispatched an undercover agent to Colombia. They headed up an illegal paramilitary force and were looking for the cartel. Things get more complicated when his team reunites and loses a field agent. On the same day, his wife’s friend was also murdered. So Ryan must risk his career and life to uncover the truth of the mystery.

Famous quotes:

The President: “How dare you come into this office and bark at me like some little junkyard dog? I am the President of the United States!”

The President: “[on who gets punished for ‘Reciprocity’] You’ll take the blame. Cutter and Ritter will take some too, but it won’t amount to much. They’ll get a slap on the wrist and $20,000 an hour on the lecture circuit. The rest, you’ll dump on Greer. Yes, you’ll take him down with you. You’ll *destroy* his reputation. But it won’t go any further than that. It’s the old Potomac two-step, Jack.”

Jack Ryan: “I’m sorry, Mr. President, I don’t dance.”

Sergeant Major: “Soldier, how did you get that close to me?”

Chavez: “Sniper approached the instructor by being a sneaky bastard, Sergeant Major!”

Famous quotes:

Ethel: “[to Chelsea] Don’t you think everyone looks back on their childhood with a certain amount of bitterness and regret about something? You’re a big girl now. Aren’t you tired of it all? Bore bore. It doesn’t have to ruin your life, darling. Life marches by, Chels. I suggest you get on with it.”

Norman: “There’s someone at the door!”

Norman: “You like that word, don’t you? Bullshit.”

Norman: “You want to know why I came back so fast? I got to the end of our lane. I couldn’t remember where the old town road was. I went a little wayin the woods. There was nothing familiar. Not one damn tree. Scared me half to death. That’s why I came running back here to you. So I could see your pretty face and feel safe and that I was still me.”

Ethel: “You’re safe, you old poop, and you’re still picking on poor old Charlie. After lunch, after we’ve gobbled up all those silly strawberries, we’ll take ourselves to the old town road. We’ve been there a thousand times. A thousand. And you’ll remember it all. Listen to me, mister. You’re my knight in shining armor. Don’t forget it. You’re going to get back up on that horse, and I’m going to be right behind you, holding on tight, and away we’re going to go, go, go.”

He wanted to start his own limousine company. His ambition changed when inquest lawyer Anne Farrell hailed a taxi from the airport. Max doesn’t seem to realize that Anne’s case will have serious consequences for his life. Immediately after dropping Anne off downtown, he picked up a card. The card was owned by  Vincent. Vincent offered Max a deal he couldn’t refuse – $700. He will only pick him up five times and drop him off at the airport with no effort. But at the first stop, a corpse falls, and Max quickly realizes that Vincent is someone he’d rather not know. Vincent is a serial killer hired by Anne. Wally and pregnant Candy visit the asylum. Dr. Larch performs a safe but medically illegal abortion. Homer goes to work with them on the Wally family’s apple farm. Homer Wells: “I’ve looked at so many women. I’ve seen everything and felt nothing. But when I look at you, it hurts.”

Homer: “Goodnight, you princes of Maine. You kings of New England.”

Dr. Wilbur Larch: “In other parts of the world, young men leave home and travel far and wide in search of a promising future. Their journeys are often fueled by dreams of triumphing over evil, finding a great love, or the hopes of fortunes easily made. Here in St. Cloud, not even the decision to get off the train is easily made, for it requires an earlier, more difficult decision – add a child to your life, or leave one behind. The only reason people journey here is for the orphanage.”

Dr. Wilbur Larch: “I came as a physician to the abandoned children and unhappily pregnant women. I had hoped to become a hero. But in St. Cloud’s, there was no such position. No heroes could be found in the lonely, sordid world of lost children. And so I became the caretaker of many, father of none. Well, in a way, there was one. His name was Homer Wells.”

Sequel:  A Dead Man Walking

Fun facts about The Cider House Rules:

  • The orphanage scenes were filmed at Northampton State Hospital, an abandoned psychiatric hospital in Northampton, Massachusetts.
  • The thing about adapting the film for writer John Irving was that he wanted his son Colin Irving to play Wally Worthington. But as the development process continued for over a decade, his son was ultimately too old for the character and not well-known enough to be considered. But the role of Major Winslow eventually won Colin Irving’s role in the film.

Won’t You Be My Neighbor- US Box Office: USD$22,835,787

Director: Morgan Nivelle

Main Cast: Fred Rogers, Margaret Whitmer,  Tom Junod, Joanne Rogers, Josie Carey, Jim Rogers

Release Date: June 29, 2018

Filming Locations: Dartmouth College, Hanover, New Hampshire, USA

Main Plot: Fred Rogers was a television personality. He is an inspiration for the next generations of viewers with his wonderfully gentle yet poignant high confidence. The story he covers is about the pastor who is examined through interviews. His family and coworkers describe him as someone who discovered a more vital calling. He offers a shelter for kids who are addicted to video games. Another cover that turned out to be his iconic series is Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood (1968). It is a program that ventured to subtly broach sensitive issues that no other children’s program at the time dared. As a result, Rogers had a career in which his sweet-tempered idealism attracted and affected the globe. Whether it was a large audience of youngsters watching TV or stubborn government officials, all his works were seen as great.

Famous quotes:

Fred Rogers: “From the time you were very little, you’ve had people who have smiled into smiling, talked you into talking, sung you into singing, loved you into loving. So, on this extra special day, let’s take some time to think of those extra special people. Some may be right here. Some may be far away.”

Fred Rogers: “Some may even be in heaven. Deep down, no matter where they are, you know they’ve always wanted what was best for you. They’ve always cared about you beyond measure and have encouraged you to be true to the best within you. Let’s take a minute of silence to think about those people now.”

Fred Rogers: “Love is at the root of everything – all learning, all parenting, all relationships. Love or the lack of it. And what we see and hear on the screen is part of who we become.”

Fred Rogers: “The greatest thing we can do is to help somebody know they’re loved and capable of loving.”

Fred Rogers: “Well, I suppose it’s an invitation, “Won’t you be my neighbor?” It’s an invitation for somebody to be close to you.”

Fun fact about Won’t You Be My Neighbor:

  • Although the documentary includes brief clips of Fred Rogers meeting Koko the gorilla and showing Koko receiving Mr. Roger’s shoes off, it doesn’t explain the gorilla’s behavior story. Following Koko’s death in June 2018, several Gorilla obituaries said that Koko was faithfully watched by Mr. Rogers every day. When they met, she took his shoes off because she was used to seeing him do it at the beginning of every episode.

The man turns out to be Frank Chambers, an inmate wanted by local police after breaking out of prison. Through flashbacks, it is revealed that Frank is a Vietnam veteran who has returned home and married his pregnant girlfriend. She was Mandy (Maika Monroe), who soon gave birth to a baby. A year after the baby was born, Frank and Mandy argued. He accused her and was very suspicious that he was the baby’s father. During the fight, he pushed her onto a radiator, causing her to die. Meanwhile, pictures show that the child drowned. Then,  Frank was sent to prison for murder.

Adele: “For all the discussions of body parts and hormones, they forget to mention how it feels. There’s another kind of hunger. The hunger for the human touch. Desire. People never tell you about how it feels. The longing.”
