Main Plot: In this follow-up to The Hunger Games, Katniss Everdeen must make a choice that could determine a whole country’s future. The Hunger Games have been altered permanently due to the Quarter Quell, and Katniss ends up in District 13. The courageous young heroine, whose bravery inspired a country, follows the advice of her companions and sets out to save Peeta (Josh Hutcherson). In the meantime, Katniss’ flimsy partnership with President Coin might end badly. When Katniss arrives in District 12 by plane, she is horrified to see that few buildings are still standing and that many dead bodies are still lying on the rubble. She discovers her sister’s cat and some personal items at her former home in Victor’s Village, which she takes with her. Like the one President Snow gave her the year before, a fresh white rose is suddenly found among withering flowers. She promptly turns around and flees after recalling his threat to harm her loved ones.

Famous quotes:

President Alma Coin: “Maybe you should’ve rescued the boy instead.”

Plutarch Heavensbee: “No. No, no, listen to me. No one else can do this but her.”

Plutarch Heavensbee: “Obviously, we need to make it personal. Remind her who the real enemy is.”

Sequel: The Hunger Games; The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 2; The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

Fun Facts about The Hunger Games: Mockingjay – Part 1:

  • Elizabeth Banks’ character Effie Trinket (who barely makes a brief cameo at the book’s conclusion) has a far larger role in the movie.
  • Many believe Peeta went on a strict diet to make it appear like he had been tortured. However, to make his face appear slimmer and battered, they actually used CGI.

Maggie Madsen: “How about an organism, a living organism? Or some sort of DNA-based computer? I know that sounds crazy, but.”

After discovering the remains of a shark attack victim, the new sheriff Martin Brody wants to ban swimming on the beaches as his first action. Mayor Larry Vaughn and a few other local businessmen are not pleased with this. As a young boy is killed by a predator that weekend, Brody recants out of regret. Amity is quickly overrun by amateur hunters and fishermen hoping to cash in on the bounty the dead boy’s mother placed on the shark. Quint, a local fisherman with extensive shark hunting experience, offers to take down the animal for a sizable fee. Quint: “Cage goes in the water, you go in the water. Shark’s in the water. Our shark.”

  • Roy Scheider improvised the line “You’re going to need a bigger boat” rather than having it in the script, claims writer Carl Gottlieb.
  • The constant fighting between Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss, who could not stand one another, caused some enjoyable tension between Hooper and Quint.

Main Plot: This story is about Jamal Malik, an 18-year-old orphan from the Mumbai slums, and the life-altering experience he will have. He is one question away from taking home a mind-blowing 20 million rupees on India’s Kaun Banega Crorepati while the entire country is watching. However, as the show ends for the evening in 2000, police detain him on accusations of cheating; how could a street kid know so much? Jamal tells the story of growing up in the ghetto with his sibling. Their travels together, their violent run-ins with neighborhood gangs, and Latika, the girl he liked and lost to establish his innocence. His story is divided into chapters containing the solution to a puzzle from the game show. Each section of Jamal’s increasingly complex narrative reveals the keys to the show’s seemingly insurmountable tests.

Famous quotes:

Jamal Malik: “I work in a call center in Juhu.”

Prem Kumar: “Phone basher! And what type of call center would that be?”

Jamal Malik: “XL5 mobile phones.”

Prem Kumar: “Ohh… so you’re the one who calls me up every single day of my life with special offers?”

Jamal Malik: “Actually I’m an assistant.”

Director: Gus Van Sant

Main Cast: Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, Stellan Skarsgård, John Mighton, Rachel Majorowski, and Colleen McCauley

Release Date: January 9, 1998

Filming Locations: Dorchester, Boston, Massachusetts, USA; Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; Boston, Massachusetts, USA; Bow & Arrow Pub – 1 Bow Street, Harvard Square, Cambridge, Massachusetts, USA; Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Main Plot: Will Hunting, a janitor at MIT, has a talent for math and science that can propel him far beyond his working-class background. Still, he is unaware of this and cannot even consider abandoning his closest friend, his construction job, or his boyhood neighborhood in Boston’s South End. To further complicate matters, several strangers are introduced: a brilliant math professor who learns about and even envies Will’s talents; a sympathetic therapist who understands his blue-collar upbringing; and a stunning, talented pre-med student who, for the first time in his life, demonstrates the possibility of love. Professor Gerald Lambeau, a Fields Medalist and expert in combinatorics, assigned his students a difficult graduate-level math problem to solve during the first week of class. Assuming that by the end of the semester, someone would do that. This will resolve the problem. As everyone looks to see who solved it, Lambeau presents a new issue that required him and his coworkers two years to establish.

Famous quotes:

Will: “Beethoven, okay. He looked at a piano, and it just made sense to him. He could just play.”

Skylar: “So what are you saying? You play the piano?”

Will: “No, not a lick. I mean, I look at a piano, I see a bunch of keys, three pedals, and a box of wood. But Beethoven, Mozart, they saw it, they could just play. I couldn’t paint you a picture, I probably can’t hit the ball out of Fenway, and I can’t play the piano.”

Skylar: “But you can do my o-chem paper in under an hour.”

Will: Right. “Well, I mean when it comes to stuff like that… I could always just play.”

Fun Facts about Good Will Hunting:

  • When Robin Williams received the Oscar for best supporting actor, he sent Peer Augustinski, a German voice dub, to present the award.
  • The final sentence of the movie, as per Matt Damon, is the best addition made by Robin Williams.
