7A Ranch is a family-owned resort situated less than a mile from the center of Wimberley. The 7-acre ranch (hence the name) has been around for 70 years and has stood the test of time.

When Wimberley was hit by historic flooding in 2015, 7A was rebuilt to give individuals, families, and groups a place to make unforgettable memories. The resort gained new ownership in 2016, and so the legacy continues.

Over time, the family vacationland has turned its secluded area into an ultimate destination for over 8,000 people in Wimberley. The place is practically packed on weekends and Market Days.

The ranch has grown to 142 acres with 19+ two four-room units and three ten-room lodges. Don’t mind a full house!

Cypress Falls Swimming Hole

Spend your summer afternoon canoeing, kayaking, or paddle boarding in one of Texas Hill Country’s go-to swimming holes.

Wimberley’s Cypress Falls swimming hole is located at the largest part of Cypress Creek, 7 minutes away from the Cypress Creek Cottages.

Swim in natural spring-fed waters from the underground spring of Jacob’s Well and enjoy refreshments in cafes nearby. You can grab drinks from any of their tap draft bars with local beers, wines, and seltzers. Hang out on their 18-hole golf course if you like!

Cypress Falls is also famous for its limestone rock formation called Eagle Rock, which was naturally carved over time.

EmilyAmm Theater

Now you’ve seen nature, and you’ve seen parks. How about some entertainment in Wimberley’s classic theatre?

EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens is superb when it comes to art and entertainment! Founded in 1998, EmilyAnn celebrates the life of Emily Ann Rolling, who shared a love for Shakespeare and acting.

The non-profit outdoor theatre hosts the annual summer event: Shakespeare Under the Stars, the Spring Fling Butterfly Festival, The Trail of Lights, and Star of the Hills.

High school students from around the state perform Shakespeare Under the Stars every August in the EmilyAnn outdoor theatre pavilion.

Emily Ann Rolling’s memory lives on through the theatre’s spirit. Every April, they celebrate Butterfly Day to honor her life by giving hundreds of butterfly larvae to school children to be released in the sky.

The musical historical drama “Star of the Hills” happens every May, and lights-hanging, The Trail of Lights, occurs every November.

Each depicts a positive, fulfilling event performed in the main outdoor venue of the wonderful Texas Hill Country.

Thanks to the awesome volunteer workforce of EmilyAnn Theatre & Gardens, concerts, plays, and parties came to life. Indoor studios are also put together, as well as the musical garden, life-sized chess/checkerboard, puppet theatre, hilltop lookout, and more.

You can picnic, watch birds and butterflies, visit the Veterans Memorial Plaza, or peacefully stroll around the 12-acre ground from dusk to dawn.

The Hill Country Wine Shoppe has been around since August 2008, founded by Jill Frazier and Beth Mitchell at a boutique wine shop on the square in Wimberley, Texas.

The historic 19th-century bar was a great stop for many locals and visitors and has become everyone’s favorite wine-tasting bar. You might not want to leave not bearing gifts – good thing the Hill Country Wine Shoppe has them!

After a long trip, enjoy and relax as you take a sip of wine in a bar-like setting at a reasonable price. Your $15 will come a long way to buy you six tastings of dry reds, whites, and sweet and fruit wines; the choice is yours. You get to keep the wine glass too!

The ride at the ranch outside Wimberley takes at least 2 hours, provided with drinks and snacks. If riding to Canyon Lake, you can pass by the local Marina for food and beverages or have a picnic.

Jacob’s Well Natural Area

Wimberly is well-known for its nature preserves. Jacob’s Well Natural Area is not to miss when you happen to be in town!

The Texas Hill Country’s iconic spring has been a focal point of restoration and conservation efforts since 1991. It was only in 2010 that Jacob’s Well was open to the public after a series of reconstruction, volunteer works, and funding.

Since then, Jacob’s Well has been a unique tourist attraction and swimming destination in Texas. The spring water flows from Middle Trinity Aquifer – the region’s primary groundwater resource for water supply.

If you plan to visit Jacob’s Well, take note that the fall, winter, and spring seasons are dedicated to habitat restoration due to the massive number of visitors coming in every month, disrupting the aquatic wildlife of Cypress Creek.

Hiking, geocaching, and sightseeing are common activities in the park. There are also a lot of good spots for picnicking and watching birds. Taking pictures is completely allowed, but ensure not to disturb the wildlife roaming around the area.

The park opens daily from 8 am to 6 pm, set only by reservations of a specific two-hour time block. Guests must show up at the specified time. Otherwise, the park will only hold their reservation until arrival, but the time block remains the same. Latecomers will have less time to swim in this case.

The area can be accessed for free but swimming in Jacob’s Well has a fee, also made by reservation.

The sky is the limit when spending time in nature preserves like Jacob’s Well. However, always observe care and proper park etiquette in the habitat of Wimberley’s precious wildlife.

You can find every selection you need to spice up your dinner in Kiss the Cook, a staple in Wimberley Square, where “Heaven Meets the Hills.”

For over 20 years, Kiss the Cook has inspired many novices to gourmet-level chefs in choosing the best quality kitchenware and tools. From olive oils and vinegar to bowls, baking pans, cookbooks, and other kitchen accessories, Kiss the Cook got what you need.

Kiss the Cook believes that memories are made in the kitchen. “It’s where we gather with those we love and where we find comfort after a long day,” said the owner, Bren.

The goal is to make everybody love cooking. The one-stop shop is a pocketful of cooking equipment, handy tools, cutesy aprons, hand-stitched towels, grillers, cutlery, linens, and kitchen electrics. Name it, and they will provide for it.

The quality is a chef’s kiss!

When the store first opened on October 1st, 2001, it immediately grabbed the attention of Wimberley’s residents, local cooks, visitors, and kitchen enthusiasts. Then, it became a gathering place where people discussed food and cooking preparation.

Old Baldy

Hit the road and go downtown for a short climb in Wimberley’s Old Baldy, a.k.a. the Prayer Mountain.

The 218-step paved limestone staircase of Mount Baldy is a no-brainer for a pilgrim like you! It overlooks the beauty of Texas Hill Country once you get to the top. The only way to ascend is by climbing the staircase, nothing a light stretch can’t overcome.

It’s a 0.3-km out-and-back trail and approximately a 9-minute route. Consider hiking this trail as a workout before going to Blue Hole or Jacob’s Well if you’re up for some exploration.

The reason why people climb Old Baldy is to see the 360-degree view of the Wimberley Valley. There’s a small park around the area too, but there’s nothing much to see at the base.

The staircase is already visible across the space designated for parking, and the climb is generally quick and easy.

Old Baldy Park was established in 2015 as Wimberley’s newest city park. The 4.3-acre property, 2.5 miles from the Square in Downtown Wimberley, was restored with the help of the Save Old Baldy Foundation.

The name ‘Baldy’ references the lack of vegetation at the top of the mountain, which looks a bit bald.

Meanwhile, it is called the Prayer Mountain because of the scriptures painted on rocks along the trail.

Established in 1978, Pitzer’s Fine Arts has showcased unique and quality pieces in its gallery on Wimberley Square across the street from Los Olivos Market at the Wimberley Fine Arts Center.

The retail fine art gallery represents over 40 big-league painters and sculptors across the country who have put up their artworks in public locations across borders and coasts.

Get inspiration from Pitzer’s Fine Arts exhibits of western, glass, and large-scale bronzes of sculptures; watercolor, oil, and acrylic paintings; and Rob Pitzer’s photography of nature’s beautiful landscape and wildlife.

Rob has worked with hundreds of well-respected artists over the past 40 years he spent in the artistic field. Tenures and nationally well-recognized artists contribute greatly to the success of the business.

Rob specifically credited Kent Ullberg for being the friend who taught him what he thinks he knows about the business.

Truly experience the local vibe of Wimberley, Texas, by visiting Wimberley Market Days, one of the Texas Hill Country’s largest outdoor markets.

It’s a busy market day with 490 booths on 20 oak-shaded acres. Over 200 volunteers from the Wimberley Lions Club and local civic organizations worked hard to make the Market Day happen.

Every first Saturday of each month from March through December, people gather in Texas’ second-largest flea market to visit shops and explore the area. Spend your day looking for sale items ranging from jewelry, collectibles, antiques, clothes, books, plants, furniture, candles, and more. The selection is limitless.

The Wimberley Market Days is a major fundraising project in which all net income, from booth rentals to parking fees, supports local programs, non-profits, and community events. By the way, admission is free!

Market Day is a busy and hot day, so you may not want to bring your pets along. It is not allowed anyways.

It’s impossible to get bored in the flea market. Besides shopping under oak trees, Wimberley Market Days have live entertainment in the pavilion, with shaded seating for people who want to enjoy drinks and a plate of BBQ.

In 2018, the project reached the $4,000,000 mark since it was chartered in 1969.
