Owners Robert Young and his wife Brenda made sure they were extracting only the best quality grapes respective of their flavor and color to make the boldest red wines. After several attempts and up to seven years in the barrel, they have perfected Texas wines that have exceeded expectations.

If you’re downtown Comfort, it’ll take 10 minutes to drive to their Estate Winery and Tasting Room. You can stop by for a bottle of their finely-aged wines grown in California’s Sierra Foothills.

For a reasonable price, you can taste five of their best wines and take home a to-go souvenir wine glass. You can savor your drink in their Wine Club Lounge under shaded seating or open cabanas on their patio. You can picnic while having a nice view of their vineyard!

The Bending Branch also has a tasting room in the Comfort Historic District at Ursa at Branch on High. Their organic wines stretch far out until the neighboring state capital, San Antonio, every weekend at Pearl Farmers Market.

No matter which skill level you are, you are welcome to bike through single tracks to Enduro trails in Flat Rock. Pick your route of choice, designed for every difficulty level. You’ll be rewarded with natural views, backdropping Comfort, and opportunities for camping and making new friends.

To put the icing on the cake, there are phenomenal grilling spots and fire pits in the ranch where you can socialize with other bikers.

Along with other amenities, the place provides hot showers to keep you rejuvenated and relaxed after a day of mountain biking and outdoor recreation.

Daily, weekly, or monthly, you can bring a company (or yourself) to go bike or do canyon runs in Flat Rock Ranch.

Like a typical ranch, there will be sights of livestock like cows, sheep, and deer. They even still raise Black Angus cattle and Angora goats! It makes a great picture.

Their gallery, 10 minutes from downtown Comfort, features handcrafted pottery of artist Brian Burckhardt and local artisans. Their studio was previously a dilapidated old barn from West Texas and was rebuilt in Hill Country.

It’s a pretty rough drive on the single-lane, dirt-and-gravel road on your way to the pottery studio, but it is not hard at all to navigate. Other than that, you’ll have a rather pleasant scenic drive!

Upon arrival, you can watch handmade works of varying dinner and kitchenware and several home items. If you’re up for it, you can make one yourself! Hill Country Pottery offers pottery classes for small groups and private classes. Beginner classes can take around 2 hours, wherein you’ll learn insights from owner Brian himself.

As the other local artists did, you will use local and sustainable materials throughout the lesson. This includes rainwater for clay mixing, locally mixed clay, and local cedar ash.

You’ll be pleased by their other pottery pieces in the studio for purchase, like wine and utensil holders and other custom gifts.

Long-distance travelers need not worry about how you can take them home in perfect condition because they can ship them to you right away!
