Junction Golf Club

Junction Golf Course is a local hotspot for golf and stunning scenery in the rugged Hill Country. It’s a 9-hole course alongside the South Llano River with a view of Cedar Creek, running through its 3-hole layout.

Established in 1927, the golf club has grown quite well from scratch. Volunteers started raising money and worked to put the place together. From clearing rocks and trees to building ponds and manicuring the land, the course became the beauty it is today.

This includes the history of Kimble County as the “Land of Living Waters” for its spring-fed creeks, tributaries, and rivers. The fertile valley with some 300 miles of flowing water led to the county’s abundant ranching community.

Get to know George C. Kimble – whom the county was named after – and his sacrifices at the Alamo battle. Moreover, learn more insights about the county’s abundant wildlife, settlement in the Llano River valley, and the southwestern Telegraph community.

In addition to these archives are interesting 19th-century artifacts, including a “peep sight” compass and a leather license plate.

Located about 20 miles north of Junction is one of Texas’s oldest and operating dance halls.

London Hall has provided live music and entertainment to the surrounding community since 1990. Also known as “Ivy’s London Dance Hall,” the owner named Ivy owned the quaint dance hall for generations.

It can be located across from the London Grocery and Grill, next to a large Pecan tree.

Lover’s Leap

The Lover’s Leap has drawn people from around the world to its dangerous beauty for over a century.

This cliff near Junction, Texas, is not like any other cliff in the state. Behind its picturesque, towering heap is a captivating folktale of two native lovers.

A booklet, “The Legend of Lovers’ Leap,” recounts the story of a love that can never be. A young couple wishing to elope despite the hostility between their tribes caught themselves in a predicament.

In an attempt to be together, the two ran away but were cornered at the cliff’s edge above the Bosque River. Rather than be separated, the lovers kissed for the last time, held hands, and leaped to bind their fate forever.

Although the forlorn tale is without historical basis, it became a landmark and a central attraction for a long time. It was believed merely as a product of late-Victorian romanticism and a way to promote the state’s natural wonders.

Along with its scenic view are safety concerns from the danger of the cliff’s edge. However, park authorities addressed this with the construction of the stone-walled barrier and new fences.
