Luna’s Fosters Animal Rescue
Luna’s Fosters is a specialist rescue. They are devoted to the hunter-type, courageous, short-legged and ferocious dachshunds. Other small breeds with particular needs are accepted.

West Texas Tails Rescue
Welcome to West Texas Tails Rescue’s story. Baby Ruth and Khaleesi, both of them devoted girls, are the reason the organization exists.
Baby Ruth, a white pitbull, was found pregnant out in the desert. When she was found she was already showing signs of distress, and things got worse quickly.
Baby Ruth was put on several different drugs. The medication never really settled her anxiety, though it did help her manage it.
Her parents chose in the end to help her across the rainbow bridge. Khadija, a blue pitbull weighing about 30 pounds, was found in the lower valley.
When her parents came across her at an animal shelter, they knew she had to go home with them right away. Khaleesi did well in her new setting and even came to hold an important place in her pack.
After surgery she was diagnosed with hemangiosarcoma, but she recovered fully and had a normal life for the next 2.5 years. Sadly, the cancer came back hard.

From the Heart Rescue
Helping those unable to help themselves was the founding idea behind From the Heart Rescue. That idea grew, and it became a second chance for thousands of abused, neglected and abandoned animals.
Since it began in January 2004, From the Heart Rescue, or FTH, has been committed to giving senior and disabled animals life-saving procedures. Other organizations are unable or unwilling to give them the drugs and the specialized care they need.
FTH also cares for injured and frightened animals that have been victims of disease, accidents, cruelty and neglect.
Their goal is to give the love and care they never had, until a permanent home is found, to the mistreated and special needs dogs with nowhere else to turn.

Law N Paws
Law N’ Paws is a distinctive animal rescue organization founded in 2017 by El Paso Police Detective Vanessa Acosta. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, they have saved more than 200 animals that were victims of abuse and neglect.
Detective Acosta began looking into cases of animal abuse and neglect, and that work led to Law N’ Paws. She quickly saw that she would have to go well beyond her duties to help animals in need on her own time.
She began paying for the rescue animals’ medical treatment out of her own pocket. Law N’ Paws was established after the successful rehabilitation and placement of Raven, the first rescue puppy, in a permanent loving family.
Having seen the incidence of animal abuse, brutality and neglect first-hand, Law N’ Paws has gone on providing the medical treatment that is urgently needed. But it goes further than that.
They also make sure that every animal they rescue is microchipped, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. But without the help of the community, they could not do this.

Four Paws and a Wake-Up is an organization that uses highly trained canines to help people with disabilities gain independence and improve their quality of life. Their organization was founded in 2019 in North Carolina and New Mexico.

Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley
A joint powers agreement between the governing bodies of the City of Las Cruces, referred to as the City, and Doa Ana County established the Animal Services Center of the Mesilla Valley, or ASCMV, in August 2008. That agreement creates a framework for the funding, management and upkeep of a regional animal shelter and the buildings that go with it.
