Main Plot: Bruce Nolan is a broadcast reporter currently handed undignified duties that have him as a butt of a joke. He is fired, beaten, and so forth. Finally, he blames God. God then decided to grant Bruce his abilities. Bruce then wreaks devastation while enjoying himself. As he tries to give everyone what they desire, chaos ensues. And, while Bruce has everything he wants, he ignores his love, Grace, and eventually loses her.   • Instead of the standard 555 prefixes used during movies and television, God’s phone number (Morgan Freeman) was a real phone number in numerous US zip codes, leading the owner of that mobile number to be besieged with calls. This number was altered for the film release to 555-0123. Later in the film, Bruce’s phone number is utilized by a broadcaster in Colorado and a woman in Florida, both inundated with calls from people wishing to speak with God. To avoid complications, the producers purchased the two phone numbers featured in the film.
  • The monkey used in the alley sequence is the same monkey who appeared in Outbreak (1995) and played Marcel in Jennifer Aniston’s television series Friends (1994). It also appeared in both Ace Ventura films alongside Jim Carrey.
