New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding

New Beginnings Therapeutic Riding (NBTR) provides well-trained, licensed teachers, healthy horses in a safe, supportive environment, and a recreational outlet for children and adults with behavioral, emotional, mental, and physical challenges.

On August 2nd, 2016, The Humane Society of Edmonson County was formally established. But it has a richer past. 

Two of their founders became active in the campaign to have the animal shelter either brought up to state standards or shut down after learning about the dreadful conditions there. Once the animals were removed, the shelter was closed on June 4th, 2016, by the Kentucky State Police. 

There needed to be greater movement. The Humane Society of Edmonson County is putting a lot of effort into helping the animals and their owners in Edmonson County, Kentucky, with your help. 

While they raise money for a permanent building, they now run their Humane Society as a foster-based organization.

Friends of Simpson County Animal Shelter

The Friends of the Shelter is a group of volunteers who work to raise funds for the shelter’s needs, advocate for and promote the adoption of dogs and cats and improve the quality of life for shelter animals. Whenever they are available to the public, Tuesday through Saturday from 11 AM to 3 PM, volunteers are welcome to walk the dogs and interact with them.

Their group is dedicated to lowering the daily kill rate of companion animals in animal control facilities. Euthanasia is a practice that no one enjoys thinking about, but it happens at open intake government-operated animal controls. 

They collaborate closely with animal control officers to remove companion animals from their facilities, reducing fatalities. 

Without a true brick-and-mortar facility, they are a foster-based organization. All the animals in their foster program and the animals at the animal control facilities they work with receive food, beds, toys, treats, and veterinary treatment. 

Over the past two years, they have successfully lowered the euthanasia rate from 98% to 2%! They are a small, unremarkable rural village that is seldom known anywhere. 

Even if they have very few resources, they just need to add more water to the soup to make it function. They also make sure that every pet adopted through their program or from animal control is fully vetted, including having been spayed or neutered.

Twin Lakes Humane Society Inc.

A 501(c)3 non-profit foster organization, Twin Lakes also serves as the “Friends of the Leitchfield Animal Shelter” and aids animals in need around the county. TLHS does not currently own a building.

Grayson County Humane Society

In 1976, the SPCA of Texas established its first clinic in McKinney. The three SPCA of Texas facilities annually accepts more than 31,936 animals. About 3,912 animals were placed in loving and responsible homes at the McKinney facility. 

The SPCA of Texas has carried out more than 170,000 canine and cat spay and neuter surgeries. Every year, inquiries about investigations are answered by more than 9,826 phone calls and emails.

They liberated 1,098 animals from inhumane living conditions per local law enforcement officers. This Humane Society provides the following programs: Dealey Life Care Program, Lost and Found Program, Volunteer Program, Foster Program, Humane Education, SPCA Social Service Programs, Rescue and Investigations, and Volunteer Program.

Safe Harbor Sanctuary

Horses, other equines, and livestock animals in need are the main emphasis of the foster farm-based charity Safe Harbor Sanctuary, maintained entirely by volunteers. Most of their work is done in Middle Tennessee. 

In their company, the animals have no age or time restrictions. Following are several areas of concentration for their programs: After The Track: Horses who began their lives in the racing world.  

They rescue horses that have experienced neglect and cruelty. They collaborate closely with regional law enforcement organizations, particularly those that lack the necessary facilities to shelter horses and other farm animals. 

They organize several events throughout the year, including hosting castration clinics collaborating with the veterinarian and a vet school, providing euthanasia assistance to horse owners, and educational clinics. They also participate in community events with their animals to inspire future horse owners.

Animal Rescue Kare

In 2015, the people of this area came together to form Animal Rescue Kare, LLC. 

They did this because they realized that Hart County, Kentucky lacked a shelter and had no coordinated way to care for lost, unwanted, abused, or neglected animals. The county government has recently rented a building, and an animal control officer has been hired to run what will soon be the Hart County Animal Shelter. 

They continue their fundraising efforts, initiatives to raise awareness and educate the public, and voucher events. On the other hand, they are “pawsing” the TNR and Foster programs.

It will also collaborate with Brandy Nichols (please welcome the county’s new ACO) to give their tireless volunteers some much-needed relaxation.
