• The plot and ending scenes were filmed entirely in Minneapolis/St. Paul International Airport, due to the heavy snowfalls that occur during the winter months there, although the film’s producers were initially forced to use bleached sawdust as a supplement to make up for the lack of falling snow until a blizzard hit the Twin Cities area during production.
• When production costs exceeded budget, Universal Pictures president Lois Thurman asked producer Ross Hunter to shut it down. Hunter passed and finished the film.
