Grande Mosquée de Bangui

Notre Dame of Bangui Cathedral
It is made for the people by the people to pray in the church.
The Notre-Dame de Bangui Cathedral was erected in the early 1900s in the French colonial style and is a massive red brick church.
Most religious buildings in Bangui, including the cathedral, were built using reddish-colored burned bricks.
A white plaster icon of the Virgin Mary, peering out from a niche over the three-door entrance, greets visitors.
The cathedral’s interior is decorated with a crucifix and four large windows made entirely of colored glass.
Monsignor Augouard arrived at the newly established colony in 1893. Around this time, Catholicism was brought to the newly established colony.
In 1894, Augouard founded the Saint-Paul mission, which became operational the following year. The so-called “European city centerpiece,” the Notre-Dame de Bangui Cathedral, was completed a few years later.

Ubangi River
