With the addition of a Robert von Hagge-designed course years ago, Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo cemented its reputation as a golfer’s paradise.

The Marina Ixtapa Golf Club is a links-style course that was designed by Robert Von Hagge and first opened for play in January 1994. Narrow fairways are surrounded by grass dunes; large traps guard undulating greens; and water can be found on 14 of the 18 holes.

The creepy mansion is turning into a mysterious urban legend.

The property is over 20,000 square meters in size and is estimated to be worth over 700 million, coming from drug money and extortion crimes by the corrupt chief.

This is a crumbling Greek-themed location of a notoriously corrupt Chief of Police.

Thanks to all of that extra cash, he established a couple of lavish mansions as his personal retreats.

His ostentatious Greek styling set his seaside playhouse apart from the other retreats along Zihuatanejo’s cliffs.

The gardens are adorned with faux-classical statues; walkways are shaded by porticos dripping with flowers; and several pools face the sea, flanked by curving staircases leading to balconies and private bars.

Tourists can walk up to the manor’s tall gates, where a groundskeeper still keeps an eye on the property.

This mansion deteriorated while the owner was imprisoned and never returned.

It has a three-meter pool with a view of the Pacific Ocean, surrounded by Greek art statues that adorned the gardens, outdoor jacuzzi, dance floors, and other murals until it was abandoned.

Discover the behind-the-scenes story of the mansion.

The invitation from the past.

Xihuacan is an archaeological site in Mesoamerica that three different cultures have inhabited for more than three thousand years.

Among the areas that can be explored are one of the largest Mesoamerican ball courts, petroglyphs on a hill, a pyramidal base, and a possible sacrifice of stones.

The museum houses a variety of artifacts that were discovered in the zone, the most notable of which is a carved stone with the Xihuacan glyph that names the location.

Various cultures, such as Tomiles, Cuitatecos, and Tepoztecas were used as the excavated sites, which were ceremonial centers throughout their history.

Xihuacan is a Nahuatl word that means “Place of the Owners of Turquoise” and refers to “The Owners of Time” or “The Calendar Masters” as a metaphor.

This is the most important archeological zone in the state of Guerrero’s Costa Grande.
