Witness the most breathtaking view of Islam, Cairo!

Bab Zuwayla is one of Cairo’s most identifiable monuments, with its enormous size, beautiful, graceful twin minarets rising from its round-fronted turrets, and stone masonry.

Bab Zuwayla, built-in 1092, is one of three surviving gates that granted access to Cairo’s fortified medieval city.

It was an execution site during Mamluk times and is now the only preserved southern entrance of the medieval city of Al Qahira.

Inside the gate, there are informative exhibits on the gate’s history, all with detailed explanations in English. On the roof, panoramic views go all the way to the citadel.

The gate is a symbolic and historically significant site in Cairo. Still, its placement in a highly-populated area exposes it to substantial traffic and human activity hazards.

Those who enjoy heights can also make their way to the tops of the two minarets.

Enjoy your journey by paying a visit to Bab Zuweila, which has two gorgeous minarets that provide an exciting ascent and fabulous views over Cairo at the top!

This is a doorway to the past!

The name Bayt Al-Suhaymi translates as “House of Suhaymi,” a magnificent mansion erected in 1648 and enlarged by Sheikh Ahmed as-Suhaymi when he purchased it in 1796.

This house was rebuilt in the last decade after falling into disrepair during the twentieth century. It is now a magnificent example of non-monumental architecture in Cairo’s most important neighborhood from the Middle Ages.

Beautiful woodwork is everywhere, and the indoor courtyards are relaxing and refreshing.

Only about 20 to 25 of the chambers are open, but that is enough to show how the rice in Cairo lived 300 years ago and before.

It serves as a museum, a stunning example of Islamic architecture and décor, and the city’s best-preserved residences of its kind.

This is a must-see location for everyone interested in architecture.

Cave Church

Have you ever seen a church built within a cave?

This cave is unique in comparison to what we generally see outside.

The Cave Church, known as St. Simon’s church in Zabbaleen, is the Middle East’s largest church.

Undoubtedly, it belongs to many unique and fascinating things to do in Cairo!

The Cave Church, built directly into the rock face and exuding antiquity and charm, can accommodate a remarkable 20,000 people.

Although the view from the top row down to the stage is lovely, it pales in comparison to the postcard-worthy view from the stage up to the entrance.

This is a masterwork, with stunning paintings and stories carved into the mountain rocks, as well as sculptured figures of the Virgin Mary and Mary Magdalene.

And for additional information, because this city has the biggest concentration of waste collectors and recyclers, the cave church translates as “trash city.”

There are several pretty interesting stories that started in the 1940s. Visit them in Cairo to find out what the tale is all about!

Revealing one among the best-preserved mosques in the world!

Egypt’s oldest and best-preserved mosque is the Ibn Tulun Mosque. It was named after Emir Ahmed Ibn Tulun, a Samarra soldier who ascended to rule Egypt between 868 and 883AD.

Climbing the 173 steps to its upper platform affords excellent views of the north’s sea of buildings.

The 40-meter-high minaret on the mosque’s northern side features a magnificent horseshoe arch over the entrance and a spiral stairway spiraling into the inside.

The construction of this mosque was another step in establishing Ahmad ibn Tulun’s independence from the Abbasid Caliphate.

The mosque’s minaret is immediately noticeable, as it resembles the designs of the Abbasid mosque at Samarra, Iraq.

The main prayer hall (on the court’s southern side) still preserves remains of its previous stucco and wood design. The mihrab has vestiges of its original gold mosaic decoration.

Your trip is unquestionably worthwhile to attempt!

Admiring the beautiful mosque in the citadel.

This is a mosque in Cairo, Egypt, that was commissioned by Muhammad Ali Pasha between 1830 and 1848.

It is sometimes called as the Alabaster Mosque.

A few of the things you’ll notice is how it became more fascinating structure when you approach the citadel. Several of Cairo’s most famous monuments and tourist attractions.

The mosque has a central dome surrounded by four small and four semicircular domes. It was 41×41 meters in size and built in a square shape.

The domes are painted and adorned with relief designs, and Alabaster covers the walls and pillars up to 11 meters in height.

The walls were scraped and covered with wood that had been painted to seem like marble.

The facade would be more impressive if all of the original Alabaster were still extant, but the interior is rather stunning. The dome is lovely, and some minor changes are taking place.

It is well worth your time to go!
