The first is trainer Tom Smith, who can spot horses&#8217; capabilities.&nbsp; Second is the choice of horse for Charles. Tom chooses Seabiscuit, an unconventional choice despite its lineage, and is also small at fifteen and a half hands tall with a slight limp. But Tom sees something about Seabiscuit to make him a winner. They trained the horse from his former losing ways. And the third is the jockey they decided to hire, Johnny &#8220;Red&#8221; Pollard, who is called red because of his hair color. With Tom and Red having a natural way of understanding the horse&#8217;s nature, depression made Red an angry young man, putting him into trouble, in and out of the court. He&#8217;s also big for a jockey and always has the issue with his size.
